rain rain, go away

Rainy and gross today- I just want to curl up under a blanket with a good book.  The perfect remedy for yuckiness outside is homemade fudge inside- yumm!!  I got this recipe from a blog that I like to read, Redvines For Breakfast.  Super easy and delicious!  Also, the one good thing about rain is that I get to wear my new(ish) trench and cute rainboots.  Do you guys have a pair of rainboots that you love?

sweet and savory

Just a quick update with the latest recipes I've tried recently.  For the Creative Cuisine Night, which is mentioned in this post, two weeks ago, I made these egg rolls.  I've never made egg rolls before, and my last attempt at cooking Asian food was a disaster, so I was a bit apprehensive.  However, the recipe was quite simple and they were surprisingly tasty!

Then for the week of Halloween, I wanted to make a sweet and spooky treat.  These eyeballs fit the bill perfectly!  They were also easy to make and taste like a delicious Reese's peanut butter cup.  It was so funny watching people eating them, because if you didn't know what they are, it really looks like that person is eating an eyeball!

Tomorrow, I'm planning on trying my hand at coconut shrimp, and I'm already looking ahead for my next sweet recipe.  Any suggestions?

samoas

At my school, I am one of the managers for my college's late-night snack bar.  The nights I work, Tuesdays, is called Creative Cuisine Night, and I try to make special treats that we don't normally serve throughout the week.  I've been having a lot of fun experimenting with recipes and rediscovering that I do actually like to cook, and especially bake.  All of things I've made so far, including soft pretzels, blueberry and chocolate chip muffins, oven-bakes chimichangas, and samoas bars, except for one (darn you stir-fry beef and broccoli), have been a success!  My latest treat were these Samoas Bars and I got the recipe from a blog I read, Redvines for Breakfast.  They are like the girl-scout cookie, super tasty and easier to make, and they sold out within an hour!  Now it's time to figure out what I'm going to make this Tuesday!
