Bloggers Do It Better: White Out

The first Bloggers Do It Better Challenge was so much fun, I couldn't wait to do it again!  This time the assignment was White Out- using whites, creams, or a combination of the two in your outfit.

cardigan- Ross, cami and skirt- forever 21, wedges- target

I only had one creme skirt, which solved the problem of what to wear on bottom.  Not going to lie, the skirt is pretty tight and short, so I want something flowier on top to balance that out.  I wore this open white cardigan which I shrunk in the wash!  It used to be much longer and the sleeves were full-length, but it actually doesn't hit me in a bad spot, even in its shrunken size.  Then I zipped up these Target wedges, which I love love love!

This was a pretty good weekend =)  On Saturday, I went shopping and I finally bought my graduation dress.  I'm going for an overall summery look, but still dressy of course, and I'm probably going to wear it with these Target wedges since I know we have to walk all over grass and such and I wouldn't want my heels to sink in.  I can't wait to wear my dress on graduation!  Also, in preparation for my trip to Myrtle Beach in a little over a week, I bought a floppy black straw hat, a bathing suit, denim shorts, and two pairs of sandals.  I think I'm pretty beach ready!  I know you guys have never seen me in a hat, but it is something I've been meaning to try, so don't worry, there will definitely be pictures!

Tell me: Would you wear an all white (or off-white) outfit?

And don't forget to check out the other outfits here!

dress up your denim

jacket- forever 21, top- Target, jeans- Plato's Closet, shoes- Old Navy

This outfit is from a couple of weeks ago when I participated in Dee's Dress up Your Denim Challenge.  The idea was to wear at least one denim piece and create an outfit that would work for both day and night.  I kept things pretty casual here- I think this would be a cute outfit to go shopping in and then for night, throwing on the leather jacket gives it some edge.  Check out how other people styled their outfits here!

In other news, I had a good weekend just relaxing and hanging out with my friends.  On Saturday, my roomie and I walked to the yarn shop to pick up some supplies and it was so fun to see all the new yarns they had in stock!  Plus the weather was nice, so the stroll over there was great.  Then at night, we threw a party and the theme was Real Housewives of New Haven.  We dressed up like we thought the Real Housewives would and there was plenty of wine to go around!  Reality TV is such a guilty pleasure! :D

Tell me: Do you watch reality TV?  If so, what's your favorite show?

spring shopping begins

As I mentioned yesterday, I've already started shopping for spring styles online and in stores, so I thought I would share with you what I have bought so far!

Forever 21:
$11.50
I included this romper in my spring picks in this post and I talked about how it's taken me a little while to jump onto the romper bandwagon.  However, I think with the right fit and color/pattern, they can look super stylish, so I picked up this one!  The price is hard to beat and I love the combination of gray and yellow, especially considering that my closet is lacking a lot of yellow pieces.

$22.80
You can't quite tell in this picture, but all of these little dots are stars.  You guys know how much I regretted not buying the last star-print dress that I saw on the Forever 21 website, so I made up for that by buying this one!  I mean, how perfect is this dress for me, seriously?!  It has stars and a pretty classic silhouette- both qualities are more than enough to convince me!

$14.80
This is another item that I spotted online, but I hadn't seen in stores until I visited my local Forever 21 back home.  I thought this print was just too adorable to pass up!

$9.80
So I am finally ready to try the maxi trend.  I have seen many petite girls rocking them and there was a good article by Rachel Zoe in Glamour about how to wear the trend, so I'm excited!  I think this neutral one is a good place to start.

$13.99
Even though the weather was quite warm when I bought this, I couldn't leave behind this sweater on sale.  I love the creamy color and cable knit, it has the perfect slouchy/relaxed fit, and it's so soft!

Goodwill:
$3.95
I couldn't resist sharing this skirt again because I love it so much!  The color is perfect and the way it flows is dreamy.  Chelsea wrote a great post about transitioning pieces between the seasons and I can't wait to wear this skirt and try her tip of wearing longer skirts in bright spring colors!

 Target:
Dolce Vita for Target Rope Wedge Sandals

Xhilaration Tawny Wedge Sandals
*last two images from Target.com
Last week, I got an email form Target that said that they were having a 'Buy One- Get One 50%' sale on shoes and purses, so I knew I had to take advantage of the sale!  I've seen wedges popping up everywhere and I've been obsessing over finding some new spring wedges, so I decided to purchase these two pairs.  With the discount and free shipping, my total cost ended up being around $42 which I thought was pretty awesome!  I think the first pair will be super versatile and once again I'm trying to branch out from only buying black shoes.  However, I couldn't resist grabbing the Tawny Wedges, which I've loved ever since I saw them on Kenzie!

Tell me: What trends are you excited to try this spring?

a pearl tee please

Did you guys have a nice weekend?  I certainly could have spent my weekend more productively, but I did have a good time with friends, as well as applied to a couple more jobs.  As graduation gets closer and closer, I get more and more nervous about finding a job!  But really, what I want right now is for this weather to make up its mind so that spring can come and stay!

cardigan, skirt, shoes- forever 21, tee- charlotte russe, tights- target
Since the warmer weather is not cooperating here, I had to wear tights with this outfit.  I got this t-shirt with the pearly neckline on sale at Charlotte Russe for $10 and I absolutely love it!  It gives the outfit a dressy feel and matches perfectly with my earrings.  Also, this skirt was a steal at Forever 21 for $6.80 and because of the waistband, I can easily fold it and wear it at different lengths.

Also, I ordered some things earlier in the week and these packages should be arriving tomorrow so I am quite excited!  No more shopping for a little while though as I need to earn back all the moola that I spent over spring break!  Has anybody else been doing some online shopping recently?  If so, what did you buy?

Send me a little hello on twitter- I'd love to chat with you! :D

la petite fille

Putting together this outfit made me feel like a little girl again, playing in my mom's closet, but in the best way possible!  I'd really wanted these little oxford booties, but all the ones I really liked were out of my price range.  Then, I stumbled across these randomly in a Plato's Closet, and they were my size and only $8! I mean, what are the chances?!  I was in a girly girl mood, so I added the knee-high socks and flouncy, colorful skirt for a slightly dressy causal outfit that I wore to a going-away party.

Cardigan, camisole, skirt- Forever 21, socks- Target, oxford booties- Predictions

my attempt at being an innocent little girl, lol

Can I just reiterate how excited I am to wear my Halloween costume?!  Since I wasn't allowed to celebrate Halloween growing up (the first time I was able to dress up was my freshman year in college) I really like to go all out!  Also, for a while I was really unexcited about my costume, which was bumming me out, but once I decided to sew part of the costume myself, I was able to bring my vision to life.  What I especially love about Halloween here at school is that there are several days of parties and activities!  Things kicked off yesterday and will continue up through Sunday.  I'm especially looking forward to Saturday, when most of the parties and "trick-or-treating' ;) happens, and also Sunday, for the annual YSO show that's performed.  So it will be a busy and fun weekend :) What plans do you guys have for Halloween?

sucker for a sweater dress

I love sweater dresses!!  They make it so easy to throw together a cute outfit and I buy at least 2 or 3 every fall/winter!  This particular one is one of my favorites because of it's subtle blue/gray color.  Toss on some boots and voilà, I'm dressed!  Also, threw on my new trench because it was raining and I'm loving this classic addition to my wardrobe.

sweater dress- Forever 21, boots- Thom Brown

trench coat- Target

My post is so late today because I spent most of the evening working on my costume.  I'm happy to report that it's pretty much done!  I finished sewing the circle skirt (using this tutorial), which was fairly easy, except when my old sewing machine was being finicky, and decorating the other elements involved.  You'll get to see the full outfit sometime this weekend ;)  Hope you're having fun with your Halloween preparations!
